Neovedor Pour-On Endectocide NEOVEDOR Neove Pharma

Description

Neovedor Pour-On Endectocide from Neove Pharma Australia contains 5 mg/mL doramectin. Specifically, it controls both internal and external parasites of cattle in a single topical application. To apply, pour it along the mid-line of the back between the withers and tailhead. The dose rate is 1 mL per 10 kg bodyweight.

Doramectin belongs to the macrocyclic lactone (ML) group of endectocides. Because it is absorbed systemically, it provides persistent protection after a single treatment. Specifically, it protects against key roundworm species for 21 to 35 days after application.

What Does Neovedor Pour-On Endectocide Treat?

Neovedor controls gastrointestinal roundworms, including adults and fourth-stage larvae. Controlled roundworm species include Ostertagia ostertagi (small brown stomach worm), Haemonchus placei (barber’s pole worm), and Cooperia spp. (small intestinal worm). Additionally, Neovedor covers Trichostrongylus axei (stomach hair worm), T. colubriformis (black scour worm), Bunostomum phlebotomum (hookworm), Oesophagostomum radiatum (nodule worm), and Nematodirus spathiger (thin-necked intestinal worm). Beyond roundworms, it controls adult and immature lungworms (Dictyocaulus viviparus). It also eliminates eye worms (Thelazia spp.) and whipworms (Thichuris spp.).

For external parasites, Neovedor controls sucking lice (Linognathus vituli, Haematopinus eurysternus, Solenopotes capillatus), biting lice (Bovicola bovis), buffalo fly (Haematobia irritans exigua), and cattle ticks (Boophilus microplus). It also treats chorioptic mange mites (Chorioptes bovis) and sarcoptic mange mites (Sarcoptes scabiei var. bovis).

Persistent Activity After a Single Treatment

A single treatment with Neovedor provides persistent protection against reinfection. Protection against Ostertagia ostertagi, Haemonchus placei, Trichostrongylus axei, and Cooperia spp. lasts up to 35 days. For lungworms, persistent protection extends to 28 days. Buffalo fly control persists for up to 14 days after application. Therefore, set-stocked cattle benefit from two treatments spaced eight weeks apart. This approach reduces infective larval build-up on pasture and protects against parasitic gastroenteritis and parasitic bronchitis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I apply Neovedor Pour-On Endectocide?

Apply Neovedor along the mid-line of the back, between the withers and tailhead. Use 1 mL per 10 kg bodyweight, based on the heaviest animal in the group. Weigh cattle with scales or a weighband to ensure accurate dosing.

Q: How long does Neovedor protect against roundworms?

Protection against key roundworm species lasts 21 to 35 days after a single treatment. Specifically, protection against Ostertagia ostertagi, Haemonchus placei, and Cooperia spp. extends up to 35 days. As a result, one treatment can carry cattle through several weeks of larval challenge.

Q: What is the meat withholding period for Neovedor?

Do not treat cattle within 42 days of slaughter for human consumption. The milk withholding period is nil. However, note that the export slaughter interval is also 42 days.

Q: Can I use Neovedor Pour-On on wet or muddy cattle?

Avoid treating cattle when their hide or hair is wet. Do not apply to skin contaminated with mud or manure. Both conditions reduce product performance.

Q: How often can I re-treat cattle with Neovedor?

Do not re-treat within 56 days of a previous application. That is a minimum eight-week interval between treatments. If you suspect worm resistance, contact your local veterinary practitioner.

Neovedor Pour-On is a generic equivalent to Dectomax Pour-On. They both contain the active ingredient Doramectin @ 5g/L, are used at the same rate, and are registered to control the same internal and external parasites. However, they are manufactured by different animal health companies. Dectomax is the original Doramectin Pour-On and a better-known brand than Neovedor; hence, the manufacturers choose to sell at a premium price. The manufacturers of Neovedor require a competitive advantage to grow the sales of their brand and decide to do this at a competitive price.
